Operation & safety – BTD Automatic (attachment) firewood processors

Control system

  • The machines from BTD Technics are equipped with a straightforward Siemens PLC control system with display.
  • The commercially available components used are sourced from reputable European brands.
  • The sensors operate without physical contact, are mounted in protected positions and therefore do not suffer mechanical wear caused by contact.

Operation

  • The PROcompact, PROcompact-S and PROplus are operated wirelessly from the carrier vehicle.
  • The TrailerPlus-M is operated directly via the swivelling control panel on the machine.
  • Automatic sawing and splitting cycle with a single control action.
  • Manual operation of the machine functions is possible via the joysticks.
  • The attachment machines are operated from the carrier vehicle, allowing the operator to remain at a distance from the working process.
  • Both manual operation and automatic cycle control are provided.
  • The cutting length can be adjusted in one-centimetre increments and is measured without contact.
  • A mechanically adjustable anti-tip stop can also be used for shorter cutting lengths.
  • A resettable daily counter and total counter record the number of processed block lengths based on the machine cycle.

Safety

  • During the automatic cycle, active movements can be interrupted immediately by operating a joystick.
  • With the PROcompact, PROcompact-S and PROplus, safe working is supported because the machine is operated from the carrier vehicle, from the cab and/or operator’s seat.
  • The TrailerPlus-M is equipped with a movable safety guard and an emergency stop to help maintain the required safety distance from moving machine parts.

Operation of the attachment machines

The PROcompact, PROcompact-S and PROplus are operated wirelessly from the carrier vehicle. The joystick controls provide both manual operation and an automatic sawing and splitting cycle.

This allows the operator to control the machine from the cab and/or operating position while maintaining a clear view of the working process.

Operation of the mobile machine

The TrailerPlus-M from BTD Technics is operated directly via the swivelling control panel on the machine. The panel is equipped with two joysticks and can be adjusted to suit the working position and the operator’s view of the machine.

Both the manual sawing and splitting functions and the automatic cycle can be controlled from the operating panel. The machine’s auxiliary hydraulic functions can also be accessed from these controls.
